This book cover was conceived as a visual archaeology of memory. Created for a publication that gathers over a decade of collaborative academic work, it reflects the intellectual and emotional layers built by three university professors dedicated to the study of memory and patrimony.
The project took on a deeper meaning when one of the authors passed away before its completion. The remaining collaborators transformed the book into both a scholarly archive and a tribute, honoring not only a shared body of research but also a lifelong partnership shaped by dialogue, rigor, and affection.
The cover design translates this narrative into form. Fragmented textures, overlapping surfaces, and worn paper evoke the sedimentation of time, suggesting that memory is not linear but stratified, constantly rewritten and reinterpreted. Embedded photographs act as intimate anchors, bridging the personal and the academic, while the composition itself mirrors the act of remembering: assembling, revisiting, and preserving.
More than a container of texts, the book becomes a space of presence and absence, where knowledge and memory coexist. This project is both a celebration of intellectual collaboration and a quiet homage to a voice that continues to resonate through the work.
